Let me list out the things that you MUST HAVE for your wedding to be perfect…… Anything thing you want. Absolutely anything at all. And let Kaitlin & Mike’s wedding be an inspiration to you as they are to us. For they followed their heart, did what they want, nailed it outta the park, and it was a day we’ll never forget!
So, 2020, it’s been a year. Let’s leave it at that. Let’s talk about the goodness and the tenacity that it takes to plan a f*cking wedding this year. M & K, I am SO glad you guys stuck to your guns, and followed your hearts. You just wanted to be married, and surrounded by your closest and that’s exactly what you did. It’s much easier said than done! I am so glad you guys surrounded yourself with a team that built you up & nailed it. Not only was your wedding lovely, it was a true expression of who you are.
Let’s get into memorable moments for these two… when Benny, their little pup, raced down the aisle, zoomy-ing back and forth as his mama made her way down the aisle to wed the man of her dreams. When Kaitlin & her father did the “Dirty Dance” lift during their dance. When Mike proudly waved his trophy in the air (and has maintained that trophy to this day whilst his wife is constantly challenging him for it!) There were so many moments that I can’t list them all. Instead, I’ll let the photos speak and share this special day.
On that note, M & K opted for a relaxed approach to their wedding day photography. No lists, no formal photos (for example, groom looking at watch, bride putting on makeup with reflection in mirror, bridal party standing in a line. I am serious, the industry of wedding photography can be very repetitive, strained and structured because that’s how it’s always been done.) But these two wanted it to be THEM. They wanted to BE IN THE MONENT. LIVE IN THE MOMENT. Another thing that is also much easier said than done. They put their trust in the universe and lived blissfully aware and present as the events unravelled throughout the day. And this is something that I am putting right back into the universe that I hope the wedding world and this incredible industry will embrace more and more of. Drop the lists, the expectations, the ‘wedding photos your supposed to have’ and make those memories. Cherish one another. The world is a crazy place, it’s always been that way, but right now it’s a little out of control. This is the perfect time to reflect and take in what truly matters, in every facet of our lives.
With that being said, I have the pleasure and am forever grateful to share this story with you. Cheers to Mike & Kaitlin, and their incredible barefoot and free spirited wedding that left a mark on our soul. Congrats you two!
*** May I make one amendment?
I cannot believe that I forgot to add one very important part to this day, who had us all laughing our asses off and in tears. Kaitlin & Mike were lucky enough to not only have Kaitlin’s sister stand as witness to their vows but also LEAD THEIR CEREMONY TOO! The fact that they had their sister there, marrying them, well that’s it. I’m done. I can’t. If anyone is looking for an officiant in Ontario with a killer amount of heart, please do yourself a favour and reach out to Annielle now. Side note, she reminds me of my dad. I know that’s weird to say, but hear me out. My dad (who officiated our besties wedding which you can find here), has this charisma, charm and a genuine gift of being the most humble, lovely soul you’ll ever meet. And I must say. Annielle has this quality and it’s a genuine heart felt quality, calmness and vibe that you want at your wedding. Okay, I’m done. I swear, I’m not a blogger, I’m still a photographer. haha.
