Welcome to the world of working with us

THE STYLE & FLOW

Welcome to a very important nook of my website, and I am happy you’ve found it. The first step to finding out we’re a great fit and what you can expect. Bear with me, this is more of a personal conversational rather than a stale How-to on how to plan your wedding and what to expect. You’ve reached out to me (or are thinking about it) and I am so grateful that you are here; and in return I want to share my experience planning a wedding/scratching all my plans and eloping. The most important part of everything that I do as your photographer is capture your moments as best I can, the most important part of what I believe as your photographer is that I have your trust and that you feel comfortable with me. Welcome to the guide to Style & Process. A roadmap for newly engaged lovers to connect with their wedding goals and how I fit in there as your photographer. Let the journey begin …

YOU ARE

1  Ready to make a promise to the one you love

And this takes guts. You have found the love of your life and have decided to take a step toward making a life lasting promise. This is huge in the best way possible. Now let the distractions begin. In a world of constant glamorous wedding inspo instragram accounts and endless pinning opportunities on Pinterest, it is SO EASY to become distracted. Believe me I was in the same boat when my husband and I got engaged. Before you even start planning, I totally recommend you sitting with your love and writing down (separately) what you imagine on your wedding day & how you imagine feeling? Share what you wrote with eachother and start building the foundation of what represents you as a couple. After that, planning a wedding will be much clearer, especially with your values in line.

2  Photographs; they’ll actually live forever

I’ll tell you the most important part of what I do, capture moments in your life that you’ll never, ever want to forget. When you close your eyes and imagine your wedding, what does it look like? This is a big question that is often asked. Go beyond that and now ask yourself, how do you want to feel? I encourage every couple that wants to get married to write a list answering those two questions above. Before any planning starts, find out the heart of what a wedding is to you both.

THE HEART

THE STYLE

3  Capturing your world, the little things with all the big feelings

I’ll tell you the most important part of what I do, capture moments in your life that you’ll never, ever want to forget. When you close your eyes and imagine your wedding, what does it look like? This is a big question that is often asked. Go beyond that and now ask yourself, how do you want to feel? I encourage every couple that wants to get married to write a list answering those two questions above. Before any planning starts, find out the heart of what a wedding is to you both. This is where I come in. The value of Bows & Lavender is connecting with other & capturing photos. That’s it. My clients are everything. The photography is the fun and creative part of my job, what gives me worth and meaning is connecting with my clients and sharing in some of the most important moments in their life. If you are expecting a person with a camera to show up to your wedding and leave, then I may not be the girl for you. I want to know your story, I want to meet your parents & I want to be apart of your planning process. Most of all, I want you to feel like your friend is at your side throughout your wedding, and she just happens to be holding a couple cameras capturing your day.

THE PROCESS

THE REAL DEAL

At the end of the day, when the flowers are dead, the drinks have been drunk and the dress is hanging in your closet, your photographs are there. Forever. Whether you having a large wedding or its just the two of you, make sure to have those moments captured.

VENUES

The not so traditional. By that, I mean let’s break the rules our grandparents followed and instead follow their lead by paving the road with our own, personal vision intact.

Breweries, coffee shops, restaurants & your parents backyard. A venue can be anything, what we’re more excited about is telling your story and why you picked that venue.

We don’t rule out photographing in churches, we just find the traditional 10:00 ceremony is not our jam. We hope to vibe with those couples that want to saw their vows and run into their crowd of guests and have a group hug while popping a bottle of champagne into the group of smiles.

SUNSET

This part is a big deal so I hope you read.

Sunset photos are apart of what we do. It’s apart of the way we design the portraits of your wedding day. We hope to capture you as candidly as possible. So that when you see those photos, you can relate back to those moments. In general, we don’t plan to block an hour off to do photos of just the two of you. We opt to space things out a bit. We capture bits of time together throughout your wedding day, by bits I mean about 10-15 minutes. And these are planned throughout your wedding day so that we can tell your full story, as they happen naturally. To answer the sunset question, HECK YEAH we reserve ten minutes with the two of you to enjoy a moment alone at sunset. Whether it’s overcast or a gorgeous summer night, we plan on pulling you away for ten minutes during the party to give you a moment alone and capture some beautiful shots.
